The Tulsa Massacre began on May 31, 1921, and lasted for two days when a white mob destroyed Tulsa's prosperous Black neighborhood of Greenwood, known as 'Black Wall Street.' The actions left between 30 and 300 people dead, mostly African Americans, and destroyed more than 1,400 homes and businesses, leaving nearly 10,000 people homeless. This is considered one of the most severe incidents of racial violence in U.S. history.
