A white mob destroyed the predominantly Black town of Rosewood, Florida, killing at least six Black residents and forcing the entire community to flee[11]. The violence began after a white woman falsely accused a Black man of assault, triggering days of racial terror[11]. The town was never rebuilt, and its Black residents were permanently displaced.
