The Rosewood massacre of 1923 occurred when white mobs attacked the Black community in Rosewood, Florida, resulting in the deaths of multiple Black residents. The violence led to the complete destruction of the town, with all Black residents forced to flee. This massacre represents one of the most complete examples of racial pogroms that resulted in the total displacement of an entire Black community.
