Rosewood Massacre
Rosewood Massacre

A white mob destroyed the predominantly Black town of Rosewood over several days in January 1923, killing at least six to nine Black residents and forcing the entire community to flee[11]. The town was completely burned down and never rebuilt, erasing a thriving Black community from the map[11]. The massacre was driven by racial tensions and false accusations against a Black man[11].
