In 1922, a white mob attacked the Black community of Perry, Florida, killing at least six Black residents and destroying homes and businesses[11]. The violence was part of a broader pattern of racial terror in the South during the early 1920s[11]. The event led to the displacement of many Black residents and the decline of the town's Black population[11].
