In January 1922, a white mob attacked the Black community of Perry, Florida, killing at least eight African Americans and burning dozens of homes and businesses [12]. The massacre occurred after a Black man was accused of killing a white man, leading to a violent reprisal by whites [12]. It remains one of the least discussed but most deadly racial massacres in Florida history [12].
