Civil rights activists, primarily from the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), traveled through the South to test Supreme Court rulings banning segregation in interstate bus terminals[12]. The rides faced violent opposition but ultimately led to the Interstate Commerce Commission enforcing desegregation. This campaign was a pivotal act of resistance to segregation in public transportation[12].
